UTVs, also known as side-by-sides (SxS), are exploding in popularity because they're fun, durable, and practical. What Are UTVs?

UTV stands for utility task vehicle and generally has two front seats, which is why they're also known as side-by-sides (SxS). UTVs come in four to six-wheel configurations, bucket or bench seating, and a roll bar or cage. Other features include four-wheel drive (4WD) and all-wheel drive (AWD), ideal for off-road conditions. UTV's essentially give you the ability to drive where no other "working" vehicle can.

UTVs vs. ATVs

Think of a UTV as a vehicle, while an ATV is a "ride." 

  1. UTVs have a steering wheel. ATVs have handlebars.
  2. You sit in UTVs and drive them. You ride ATVs like a motorcycle.
  3. UTVs are bigger than ATVs and can handle more payloads.
  4. ATVs are smaller and can handle narrower trails.
  5. ATVs can fit into most trucks for hauling, unlike UTVs.
  6. UTVs are much more comfortable

Depending on your needs, there are three types of UTVs - performance/sport, utility, and sport-utility. If you plan on trail-riding, performance/sport UTVs are a perfect choice. Sport/Utility UTVs combine off-road capability with increased payload, making them ideal for hunters.
